Clan victorious in home, season opener

It was verything that the SFU hockey team wanted in their first regular season game in the 2010-2011 season.

Their new home, Bill Copeland Sports Centre, was occupied like it hadn't been before, they raised the 2009-2010 Championship banner high in the rafters at center-ice, their recruits shone in the spotlight, and of course they won the game.

Former Dalhousie University forward led the way with a hat-trick in the 8-3 home victory, while his new linemates Paul Moscone and Jaime Laprise has two and three assists respectively.

Former BCHL forward Mitch Labreche impressed with his speed on SFU's second line scoring one goal and one assist, while another newcomer, Kyle Leung, notched two assists in his first game with SFU.

Coach Mark Coletta was pleased with the game as a first game, but says the team still has to work on the little things.

SFU travels to Kelowna this Friday, October 1st for their second game of the season and the first on the road as they take on Okanagan College. Face-off is set for 9pm. Tune into www.sfuhockey.com for the live broadcast.
