Weekend Wrap: Clan go 1-and-1, Moscone nets 100th point

They went from the lows of lows to the highs of highs this weekend. SFU played back-to-back games in Kamloops and Burnaby on Friday and Saturday respectively and came out with opposing results.

On Friday, in their first trip to the Kamloops Memorial Arena this season, the Clan paraded to the penalty box and that was their demise.

Ten times the Clan gave the Wolfpack a man advantage opportunity and Thompson Rivers converted on five of those opportunites. Those five goals helped them to a 7-2 victory over SFU. Jassi Sangha had 5 points in the game. Anthony Ferrari was ejected for an altercation at the bench, as was Jas Rai for a fight with Korey Gannon.

On Saturday, despite the penalties continuing and having a slow start, the result was different.

Backed by a 40-save performance from backup goaltender Evan Kurylo, SFU was able to come back from a 1-0 deficit to defeat the Trinity Western University Spartans 3-1 at Bill Copeland Arena.

The Clan went down 1-0 after failing to score on the power play. Kurylo kept his team in it and in the third period they responded. Bryan Brunton stepped into a slapshot from about 40-feet and beat John-Paul Chapman. Only minutes later Paul Moscone set up Jaime Laprise at the side of the goal and SFU took a 2-1 lead. For Moscone it was his 100th career point, becoming the first SFU player to do so. Kolby Kulhanek added an empty netter.
