As much as I love my new job as a play by play guy for a winning hockey club, I do like a little me time, too.
The weekend off was welcome for the whole team from what I can tell. Well, maybe some of the guys weren't thinking that during some practice sessions... A week off means extra skating during practice, and I'm not talking about the soft slow circles, holding your girlfriend's hand, smiling like a goof, kind of skating. I'm talking about the boot camp, sweating fluorescent Gatorade while the dramatic stanzas of Mozart's Requiem pound your eardrums from the PA system - skating!
While I sit on a ferry full of my fellow BC Lions fans, I think of the work the Clan did on the ice this week, and get excited for next weekend. Eastern Washington comes to Burnaby on the 26th and will have a few scores to settle.
I am going to enjoy some good Canadian football then get ready for a sprint to the end of the semester and a long Christmas break.
For now, I will sit and hope that the hockey gear I am toting home from Nanaimo doesn't stink too much and there is plenty of room to squeeze me on public transit!
