Turnover on the Blue Line: A Broadcaster's Appeal

I truly appreciate my place with SFU Hockey. I know what it means to these guys to produce for their team. If I can relate in any way, it's the feeling I have when they score, and in that pivotal moment, I can make that player's friend or family member in the audience, feel that players excitement.
It's not easy getting it "just right." It takes time, repetitions, criticism and support. I've done a few casts in the past couple of months, and had to reflect with a sour taste in my mouth. I would think about how much energy I called the game with; "Was it enough?" "Did I even say that guy's name right?" "Oh crap... my voice sounded like junk there!"

It's like playing right along side the team sometimes. They as a team can have a great game. But, one guy can have a turnover at the blue line, giving up the only goal against, and he will hang his head till the next game. And that's how I look at my job. I expect my best effort from myself. It's the same as each guy on the ice. But, when a mistake occurs, I own it, remember it, and get jacked for the opportunity to do it better the next time.

You may ask where this bit of introspective writing came from, and that's simple to answer. I want my audience to know I appreciate their paid attention. It's the only currency I deal in.

With that said, if there's anything you think I can do better, or I've just plain sucked at, let me know! Your input will only help SFU Hockey!

Much Love,

Matt Hunt
