I must apologize for my earlier post, or at least leaving out a very important piece of information, which should've taken precedence over Ben Van Lare's baseball woes.
I realized after two games as well, that I had even forgotten to mention the good news over the web!
Ben was declared the BCIHL's player of the week last week, ending October 23rd!
Congratulations to him are long overdue!
He has been so consistent and fun to watch this month that I forgot my own duty to congratulate him. I won't hesitate to do the same for him the next time, and there will be a next time at his current pace.
Ben had four points (2G, 2A) in a 7-4 thrashing of TRU at Bill Copeland Arena on October 22nd then put another 4 assists on the board over this past weekend.
He's a strong offensive threat, and more than worth ticket price home or away!
---------------------
If you're curious, he is on pace to shatter the BCIHL scoring record of 52 points set by Matt Ehrenreich and Robert Vos of the now defunct University of the Fraser Valley in 2009/10.
His 2.5 points per game in the first six games will put his projected total at 60 points.
I'm not trying to lay the pressure on the guy.
I'm just trying to tell you that there's more than just winning hockey in Burnaby; there's exciting hockey in Burnaby!
